  A deceptive place indeed. They posted online that they were seeking daffodil pickers, and that an average picker could expect to make between $80-$100 in a day, and an expert picker could make twice that. So, with it being my first day, I expected to make a fair bit less than the average. I thought aiming for $60 for eight hours of work wouldn't be bad for a first day. It's less than minimum wage, but I wanted to be realistic in my expectations. In truth, I ended up only making $35 for the entire shift - $5 of which went for transit, and $15 for the boots they required me to buy. I can believe that I would get better with time, as with any job, but I would have to more than double my speed just to make minimum wage - which is a huge jump - I wonder if it's even possible. I was already working quite hard; the person next to me only made $20. The idea of someone making $200 in a day? Ludicrous.
